Guest Post: Encouragement for your Soul!

So excited to introduce a beautiful lady to you today. Brooke Lynn has a story to tell that is like no other. Her book, Raised by Strangers, will keep you glued to its pages and wiping your eyes. What she has lived through can only be described as a miracle. Today, she wants to encourage you that you can overcome any obstacle as long as you are walking hand in hand with Jesus Christ! Be blessed and be sure and check out her links at the end of the post and get that book!

We are no match for a storm. We don’t run into a tornado and scream at it, trying to make it turn the other way. When stormy weather or disasters hit, we find shelter, pray and trust God for protection.

There are also times we will find ourselves in the storms of life. When we are swept away by the winds of circumstances, we may become scared and worried just as the disciples did on the boat with Jesus. We feel alone and fearful watching the waves crash around us. But during these times, instead of panic, we need to quiet our souls and draw close to God. He is speaking a word into our spirits; “Be Still and Know I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)  “I have always taken care of you and provided for you. I have never left you alone. I have never abandoned you. I didn’t bring you this far to leave you in a place of despondency.”

We may feel some peace and contentment for awhile, until the storm gets stronger and our boats starts rocking, waves crash into us, and water hits our face. We cry out to God saying, “I know you are here but I can’t feel your presence. I trust you but what are you going to do and when will you do it?” Our fear rises, but all this time Jesus is sitting next to us in the boat. He is embracing us in His arms and providing the peace and protection we need.

He is saying, “Fear not, this storm will only last for a little while and this too shall pass.”  “You have been prepared already for a time such as this. You know my word. You know me. You know my character and that I am your provider, protector, and all you need. You know that I am working behind the scenes and just because you don’t see anything happening with your own eyes doesn’t mean I’m not working in your situation.

Pick up your oars and row!  See, you have the tools you need. You don’t need to worry and fret; has fear or anxiety ever done you any good? The enemy is a liar and he comes to kill, steal and destroy. Pick up my word and read it, believe it, speak it and pray it.  Stand up and walk on the water with me. Take my hand even if you are afraid and let’s go through this storm together. It’s time to face the enemy head on. This fear can’t overpower you and rule you anymore.”

Fear will keep you from the Promised Land. Look fear in the face and say, “no more!”   “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)

We don’t know how long the storm will last.  We don’t know the collateral damage the storm will do. But we do know this, eventually the winds will stop blowing, the waves will stop crashing, the rains will stop pouring, and the sun will shine again. Keep your head up. Focus on the One who holds you in the palm of His hand.

I know stress, fear and anxiety all too well. I know how our feelings, thoughts and emotions want to dominate us. I refuse to live my life any longer in a prison with PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder and paralyzing fear. I personally invite you to read my true life story, “Raised by Strangers.”

When I was just five years old, I was kidnapped and forced to live a life burdened with cruel and bizarre physical and emotional abuse.  My will to survive, inspired by an invisible hope, helped me fight the demons and stay alive as I endured haunting experiences.

This book chronicles my true life story full of forbidden secrets driven by darkness and deception.  When I was five years old, I was kidnapped, given away, and ultimately raised by strangers who tortured me. Through this gripping story, I share ways I have learned to overcome my horrendous past and rise above the ugliness of humanity with faith and forgiveness. This book is raw with reality and will help you find courage and strength for healing, how to face your fears, forgive offenses, and live a life of freedom.
