And we’re off!

We have been waiting for this day for eight long weeks…finally it is here. I am traveling with my best friend, The Sweetheart, back to Tallinn, Estonia, where we started our Faith Journey almost four years ago. Tallinn is a fairy-tale city, so much of Old Town is still in tact in spite of the toll that war has taken on the Baltic States. The city dates back to the early 1200’s! It is breathtaking, to say the least.

I have heard it said that Tallinn was untouched because the German elite counted it as a vacation destination. Some of the other cities in that part of Europe were not as fortunate, like Riga, Latvia, Warsaw, Poland, and many others.

We will be sharing our hearts, and probably too many pictures, while we are there the next eight weeks. You can follow me here and also on Faith Journey, our ministry website, where my husband, Douglas, will be posting as well.

Some have asked about the weather in that part of the world right now. Usually their summers average about 70 – 75 degrees Fahrenheit, but not this year! It has been unseasonably cool, with highs in the low 60’s! Hopefully it will hit summer soon, but I am not going to be complaining about missing Indiana’s hot, humid summer! I do not tolerate extreme heat very well at all.

The city of Tallinn sits on the Baltic Sea. Its neighbors are Sweden, Finland, Russia and Latvia. (You can read more about this beautiful country here, it will open in a new window.)

Even with all of the beauty, there is so much more to Tallinn, and its surrounding cities, much, much more! It is the people that we are going to see. The Estonians are more quiet and reserved than Americans, for the most part, but they are very warm, friendly and hospitable!

We look forward to re-connecting with those that we met when we lived there in 2010, and meeting many new friends as well. We will be busy with the church, the people and whatever duties the resident missionary has left for us. Of course there will be time to see things, and we look forward to sharing it with you.

We want to thank all of you who have given so we could go. That is what makes up the Body of Christ! Each member doing his part for the working of the Kingdom. You are a vital part of our ministry and we could not do it without you!

For all of those that are partnering with us in prayer, we are forever grateful. We need your prayer covering with the unrest that is brewing in that corner of the globe. Our hope is in the Lord!

Pray for our safe travels today and tomorrow. We have an eleven hour layover in Oslo, Norway and are blessed to be meeting a fellow missionary who lives there! She will be our tour guide for the day and give us a glimpse of another beautiful country. Watch out for picture-overload!

God bless you all, friends and stay tuned to Hope in the Healing because I have several guest writers who will be co-hosting with me while I am traveling. Enjoy!
