Egija’s Testimony!

31 days of HopeToday is Day 2 of the 31 Day Blogging Challenge!

I am sharing a beautiful testimony of deliverance from one of our Latvian young people. I know you will be touched by this story because, unfortunately, this practice that almost took Egija, is alive and well around the world. Feel free to share it with others, you never know who may need to hear it!

Egija Gulbe left the Latvian countryside to find a job in the capitol city of Riga. It is the pattern of many Latvians after high school. Riga’s population is just under 700,000, but the entire country of Latvia is just two million. So you can see that the majority flock to Riga to find work.

Egija had a grant to study cosmetology and could also live at the school. Once she arrived, she discovered things were not as wonderful as promised. The living conditions were, as she put it, “a little bit scary”. She also still needed a job and soon found one as a nanny.

She was thrilled because she loves children! She has a younger brother and sister so she knew that would be a perfect fit. The family she would be living with had only one son who was about seven years old. The mother worked in Scotland and travelled frequently, the father worked in Latvia.

Unfortunately, in a short time Egija noticed things were a little unusual and she was unsettled in the home. One day her employer said to pack her bags because they needed to take a quick trip to Norway. Egija was concerned, but if it was part of her job to take care of the little boy, then she was to follow.

When they arrived at the airport, Egija became very worried. He told her to sit still and he would be back in 15 minutes. It was then that he took Egija’s residency papers and work permits and revealed to her what was happening:

Egija was being SOLD into the human trafficking slave market!

Her heart pounding, the blood rushing to her head, the room spinning, she knew she had to get away. She waited a long time until she was sure he was out of sight, grabbed her bag and ran out of the airport as quickly as she could.

She hopped on the tram and the only place she could think to go was to our apartment. When she showed up at my door almost two years ago, sobbing hysterically, trying to convey to us in broken English what had happened; my mother’s heart was breaking for her. You read of such things and see them on the news, but this was real life.

She had already been to the “policija”; they had basically laughed at her.

This is all too common in this part of the world and there is not much that can be done about it. But for Egija, the damage was deep. She had to have help to restore all of the documents that had been stolen from her. Thankfully we had legal help on our missions team!

But even more than that, she needed God. He provided the healing she needed to get her back on her feet.

Egija

Fast forward to 2013. When I came back to Riga this time, I had not seen Egija for almost 17 months. The spiritual change is amazing. She has grown and blossomed in the Lord! He has healed her mind and restored her soul.  She is reaching out and ministering to others and she is taking the things that the enemy meant for harm to her and turning them around and making them stepping stones in her relationship with God. “But as for you, ye thought evil against me: but God meant it unto good…” Genesis 50:20.

Hope and Healing.

Egija has experienced so much of both of these in her short life time.

What trials or tests have come your way that maybe you thought could destroy you?

How can you turn those into a testimony?!

Have you been delivered from something that only God could have stepped in and done?

Share with us your words, your triumphs, your witness of His power in your life!

There is Hope and Healing for you today…be encouraged and know that Jesus is waiting to fill that void and bring deliverance and peace to your situation.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10.

31 Days of Hope & Healing

31dbc-participant-oct-2013Today begins the 31 Day Blogging & Writing Challenge!

But much more than that I will be sharing with you 31 Days of Hope & Healing. For the entire month of October I hope to bring you encouraging and uplifting posts every single day that will bring you hope, healing, and nourishment for your soul.

The best way to do that is to delve deep into the Word of God! I want us to do that…together. I have always wanted this blog to be an interactive community, and some of you have contributed greatly, it has been a blessing!

But I would love to have more input! Your comments are invaluable. You just never know what it might mean to a reader. They might be hanging by a thread and something YOU say just may be what they needed that very day to help them through a particular trial.

Never underestimate what God has given you! I held back for too many years worried of what others might think. When the Lord spoke to me about this blog, and I knew it was truly God, I wrestled with Him for days.

“Lord, I just cannot DO that! What will THEY think?

I am not a writer! THEY will talk about me. THEY will think I am trying to BE somebody. THEY will whisper about me, saying I am trying to elevate myself. What if I fail? What if it isn’t any good? What if I am made fun of?”

And on, and on, and on the questions went for several days in prayer.

Then one morning it was as if the sweet presence of God just swept into my room and if it had been an audible voice it would not have been any more clear…and He said to me,

“Who are THEY? I have asked you to do this to help others. This is your ministry now. Forget about other people and just obey my will.”

I was overcome with His presence and just seemed to be caught away in the Holy Ghost for the longest time. Even as I am writing this, the enemy is whispering in my ear, “THEY will think you are trying to say you are spiritual…you are holy, you are somebody!!”

You know what devil?! I will say the same thing I said that day:

“Get behind me Satan!”

I am tired of sitting back and letting him hinder me and keeping me from doing what God wants me to do!

I AM somebody!

So are YOU! We are a child of God and He gave us a job to do! To share the Gospel with as many as we can in these last days. This is the outlet He gave me for this time period and I am ever grateful. I am going to use it to the best of my ability and I thank Him every day knowing it has nothing whatsoever to do with ME, I am just a vessel, He is the Potter, I am the clay.

Now! Back to all of you!

31 Days of Hope & Healing

You can help me by becoming a partner with me these next 31 days.

If you have something you want me to write about, feel free to submit it! I will be happy to do it! Any subject of encouragement, or ways to get to faith, hope and healing of the mind and spirit. Nothing is off subject except prophecy, ha. Probably out of my league!

You can also contribute greatly by commenting! Please do!

Last, but not least, you can share the blog with your friends.

Share it on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and by email. If you are not following the blog, you can do so by any of these avenues and tell a friend. You just never know when something might be a blessing to another.

Blessings today! Thank you for your help and support these last SEVEN months! You all have been a blessing to me. Let’s make this next 31 days a month of great hope!

Tomorrow I will resume more updates on the Latvian conference so stay tuned!

Tu esi svēts, Kungs! (You Are Holy, Lord!)

What a wonderful time we had at Apustulu Spēks Konference in Riga, Latvia!

A heartfelt “thank you” to all of those that joined the prayer team and supported us with your prayers for this conference! Although we may not have filled the house with numbers, the house was surely FILLED with the presence of God as you will see in this post through video!

We began the weekend with another rainbow!! I just could not believe God blessed us with two beautiful rainbows this week! We have had so much rain since we arrived in Riga but you cannot have a rainbow without the rain and aren’t they just amazing? This is looking out the other window in our hotel room.

One of the exciting testimonies from this meeting that Rebekah Kline, Associate in Missions from Pennsylvania, captured was a beautiful generational story.

Last year at the Saturday night service during the 1st Annual Apostolic Power Conference, Jurijs was a visitor to the services. He was filled with the Holy Spirit during the Saturday night service!

Jurijs has been coming faithfully all year long to the Apostolic Way church. While doing so, he lead his parents into the Truth and they also received the baptism of the Holy Ghost this past year! Praise the Lord!

Saturdays just seem to be the day for this family because at the 2nd Annual Conference Jurijis’ grandmother was also filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost in our service!

One Year = Three Generations!

God is doing great things! What do you need from Him today? Healing, restoration, deliverance, salvation? Any and all of these things He is able to supply! Give Him your burdens, your worries, your cares and worship Him for who He is. Then let the Holy Ghost come in!

It is a promise!

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” Acts 2:38-39.

I will be sharing more testimonies this week but wanted to get this post out quickly today! I pray you are blessed as you listen to my friends sing and glorify the Lord in Latvian.
